A PLAYER’S FIELD GUIDE

A patch is only part of the adventure.

Start with your own original game. Keep it safe, and match the patch to the exact supported version.

No public patches yet.

This is an overview. Release-specific tools, source identifiers and compatibility instructions will accompany each verified release.

1. Check the game and revision

A matching title is not enough. Platform, edition, image format and revision must match the release instructions. A release may publish an approved SHA-256 identifier for comparison; those identifiers are not available yet.

2. Preserve the original

Keep an untouched backup. Apply the patch to a separate copy with the tool and settings named in that release’s guide. Never overwrite your original media image.

3. Verify, then play

Compare the patch checksum before use, and the resulting file checksum if supplied. Follow the exact tested emulator configuration. A build or boot test alone does not establish full compatibility or hardware support.

PC-8801

Disk-image adventures

Disk sets, image containers and machine configurations vary. Wait for the game’s exact disk/revision and format-specific instructions. A BPS workflow is not assumed.

NES / SNES

Cartridge adventures

ROM revisions and header conventions matter. Use only the source form named by the release. General cartridge guidance does not approve a specific game or flash cartridge.

Something doesn’t match?

Stop before applying another patch. Recheck the exact source identifier, patch version and guide. Don’t stack patches unless the release explicitly documents that sequence.
